Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou is the youngest of four children born August 9th, 1976 in Beaumont Puy de Domme. Her parents, a dentist and teacher recognized and supported her love of theatre and drama at an early age, which overcame her initial ambition to become a primatologist due to her fascination with monkeys. There was an immediate rise for her to be an internationally renowned young actor. When she finished her education, she participated in the French talent-spotting TV show Jeunes Premiers which was sponsored by Canal+. She won the award for the best young Actress prize at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors and started her professional career as an actor. Tautou was a member of the church as well as the Institut Catholique de Paris during her youth, however she now dissociates herself from these upbringings. As well as her acting profession she also pursued a modeling career. She is also the spokesperson for L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and is often referred to as The Chanel Muse. Apart from her acting work, she has an interest in photography. She recently exhibited some photos in the Arles Film Festival, under the name Superficial. Her work is focused on celebrities in addition to the fame. The exhibition also includes portraits of herself and focus on journalists that have closely scrutinized Tautou following her rapid popularity after Amelie. Audrey Tautou's first big part, playing Amelie Poulain's main actor in the film Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain, brought her fame to the world. Amelie received international recognition due to its success at the box office. The film was also recognized in award ceremonies all over the world. It is the top-grossing French film to be released in the United States. In the following year, she appeared in British dramas including Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things as well as Jean-Pierre Jeunet's The long day of the fiancailles. In the following year, she moved to Hollywood to work in Hollywood, where Ron Howard directed the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
