Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. Her early appearances on Broadway included in productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across stage film and television and she is continuing her award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. As it is a Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney DTC's platform. Ashford will return in 2023. He will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who produced Hamilton is directing the musical. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. Two seasons ago, Ashford played a prominent role in CBS's hit series B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Also, she has performed in Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original role of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for the Tony Award. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
